On 1 May 2026, over 80 Old Alleynians from the Class of 1986 returned to Dulwich College to celebrate their 40-year reunion.

For many, it was far more than simply a reunion dinner. It was an opportunity to reconnect with old friends, revisit familiar places, and reflect on just how much our time at Dulwich shaped our lives. The friendships we formed, the opportunities we were given, the sports we played, the societies we joined, and the experiences we shared have stayed with us ever since.

Out of those conversations emerged a shared ambition: to create something lasting together.

As the Committee of the Class of ‘86 Reunion, we would like to propose establishing a Class of ‘86 Bursary at Dulwich College.

The College has advised that funding a full bursary place for a boy from age 11-18 requires support of £170,000. Our initial aim is to raise £24,300 to support one year of fees for a boy joining Dulwich in September this year, with the hope that we can do more in the future.

Friendships that last decades

There is something rather special in imagining that, forty years from now, the boy supported by the Class of 1986 may return to the College for his own reunion with lifelong friendships and stories of his own.

Contributions can be made in whatever way suits individual circumstances, whether through regular support or a one-off gift, and may also be eligible for Gift Aid and other tax-efficient arrangements depending on jurisdiction.

We fully recognise that everyone’s circumstances are different. Some contemporaries may wish to contribute a modest amount, whilst others may feel able to support a larger share of the bursary. Every contribution will help move us closer towards making this ambition a reality.

If you are interested in discussing a larger contribution to the appeal, we would be delighted to hear from you in confidence. Please contact Kathi Palitz, Head of Philanthropy for any additional questions palitzks@dulwich.org.uk or 020 8299 5369.

More Than a Fundraising Appeal

We hope the Class of 1986 Bursary will become more than simply a fundraising initiative. We hope it will give our year another reason to remain connected over the coming years — a shared undertaking that we can build together, celebrate together, and take pride in together.

By supporting this appeal, the Class of 1986 has the opportunity to leave behind something truly lasting for future generations of Dulwich boys.

To support the Class of 1986 Bursary, please complete the donation form below. Thank you for helping us create a lasting legacy from the Class of 1986.
