Enriching Boarding

Orchard and Old Blew House Link

At Dulwich College we are very proud of our boarding community. Edward Alleyn founded our College in 1619 to provide education and lodgings for 12 scholars. Today we have a thriving and harmonious community of 140 boarders from the UK and around the world which remains at the heart of the College. Boys can board from the age of 11 in The Orchard and Old Blew. Senior boys can continue there or move to one of the on-site houses, Blew and Ivyholme. Communal space is at the heart of each of our 4 boarding houses.

Our plans are to create a single enlarged and enhanced Boarding House through the development of a new single storey link connecting “The Orchard” and “Old Blew House”. The new link will provide excellent recreation and social spaces for boarders and greater interaction across our boarding community. It will also make effective use of our historic buildings and allow for even greater pastoral care through dedicated Boarding House staff.

How you can help

The total costs of the project are £1.5 million. The project offers a number of opportunities for major benefactors to associate their names, the names of their families, beloved teachers, with particular spaces within link and refurbished areas of the boarding house.
