St Joseph’s National Rugby Festival: 1st XV produce outstanding weekend of rugby

On the 21 and 22 October the 1st XV squad attended the St Joseph’s National Rugby Festival. After a superb weekend of rugby, the 1st XV narrowly lost to Brighton, 12-5, in their final group game on the Sunday to narrowly miss out on a place in the final.

During the Saturday group stages the Dulwich boys performed brilliantly leading to victories over Whitchurch, RGS Newcastle and RGS High Wycombe, winning the group and qualifying for the Cup Competition, and allowing the opportunity for the whole squad to play.

We faced Hampton and Denstone early on Sunday morning, winning both with close victories setting up effectively a ‘semi-final’ v Brighton in the last group game. Brighton emerged as worthy winners and then went on to defeat Millfield in the final 38-12.

We couldn’t be prouder of the boys efforts and the whole squad have been fine ambassadors of the College. As captain, Oscar Gleave led the team superbly.
