England Vest tops overall success at English Schools Cross Country Championships

Four Dulwich boys ran for London in the 2019 English Schools Cross Country Championships held in Leeds at the weekend.

Toby Evans (Year 11) representing Dulwich in the Intermediate Boys’ age category was always going to find the incredibly tough conditions hard this weekend as he has just endured a two week lay-off due to an injury and ran with his leg strapped up. In-spite of this Toby finished in 294th position in a field of 331 athletes contributing to a London team finish of 15th out of 43 counties.

In a race field of 343 athletes, our Junior boys excelled with all three finishing in the top 100. Zac Crowther (Year 8) finished in a very respectable 99th place, Christo Chilton (Year 8) finished in 20th position, setting up real possibilities for next season. Jacob Taylor (Year 9) ran outstandingly well to finish in fourth position and has been selected to run for England in the home international in Dublin next weekend. Jacob is only our second cross country runner to achieve this in five years. A remarkable achievement. Alongside their London team mates, these boys contributed to London finishing fourth out of 45 counties.
