Year 11 Drama Examination Showcase

Year 11 Drama Examination Showcase

Year 11 GCSE students ignited the Edward Alleyn Theatre at the end of term with the staging of extracts from Nick Dear’s adaptation of Frankenstein and Neil Bartlett’s adaptation of Jekyll & Hyde for their final practical examination.

Both are timeless tales of terror, exploring humanity’s capacity for both good and evil with dramatical potential to intrigue, unsettle and disarm. The performers showcased daring group work exploring naturalistic techniques to truthfully inhabit their characters for believable effect and also layered their pieces with slick physical expressionistic movement to make manifest inner feelings, and play the shifting locations and atmospheres. Bravo and congratulations to this very talented cohort for this gripping gothic masterclass.
