UK Chemistry Olympiad Success

UK Chemistry Olympiad Success

On the 25 January, 56 students, mostly from Year 12 and Year 13, undertook the challenge of participating in Round 1 of the UK Chemistry Olympiad. This rigorous examination lasts 2 hours and tests the students with demanding questions well beyond the scope of A level. The results have just been released, and the College is delighted to announce that this year the students achieved 13 Gold awards, 26 Silver awards, and 16 Bronze awards, an outstanding set of results. Special congratulations are in order for School Captain, Evi Bukata (Year 13), who scored 62 out of 82, placing him among the top 30 chemists in the country. Due to this exceptional performance, he has been invited to participate in Round 2 of the UK Chemistry Olympiad, which will be held at Nottingham University in April. If successful in Round 2, he could be part of the UK team attending the International Chemistry Olympiad in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, this July.
