Marlowe make it over the line

After some 46 separate competitions over the course of the past academic year, the annual tussle to be the proud possessor of the Steve Hoyle Shield- as overall Upper School House victors- came to an end last Wednesday afternoon with Marlowe in pole position, after a narrow victory over their Raleigh and Sidney challengers. The contest began at the start of the Michaelmas Term with that test of mental and physical stamina- the House Cross Country race through Dulwich Woods- and reached its denouement, amidst a sea of boaters and immaculately-attired competitors, with the more genteel contest of House Croquet. The trophy was awarded by The Master, Dr Spence, to Marlowe’s triumvirate of Upper School House Captains, Charlie Jarmyn, Niccolo Smith and Harry Sugden, in Tuesday morning’s final joint Year 12/13 assembly.
