Another Year of Success at the Young Art Competition

Another Year of Success at the Young Art Competition

The annual Young Art Exhibition offered our artists the opportunity to have their work judged and exhibited at the prestigious Royal College of Art, whilst simultaneously raising money for Cancer Research UK.

With over 7500 entries from across the country, the competition was inevitably high, so we were absolutely thrilled that Robin Samuel (Year 12) received one of the highest accolades by being awarded First prize overall in the Printmaking Competition for Years 10 and 11, judged by Professor Chris Orr MBE RA. Additionally Chris Orr has also invited Robin to the Royal Academy for an exciting printmaking workshop. The department has rekindled its love of printmaking in recent years and is often at the heart of all that we do. Robin produced a circular dry point etching of a landscape moulin, inspired by his family walks the landscape in Austria (pictured above left).

Henry Yang (Year 12) came third overall in the Painting prize for his clouds caught in a humble jar (pictured above right). Year 12 students Aristou Meehan, Henry Ognev, and Tommy Wu were also Highly Commended in the Drawing category. Congratulations to all the students.
