Year 9 Germanists embarked on an exciting day to the Southbank to visit the British Film Institute. There, the students met with other Key Stage Three German learners and took part in a day-long event looking at Identity and Culture in German Cinema.
In the morning, students watched clips from Films such as Der Ganz Große Traum and Almanya, working on using their German language to formulate opinions and comments on the clips. After lunch in the National Theatre, students then returned to the BFI to watch a screening of Berlin 36, which looked at the measures taken by the Nazi Party during the 1936 Olympic Games to manipulate and control competitors, while trying to avoid an American boycott of the Games.
