Over half term, the Dulwich College Under 13 As headed down to the west country for the inaugural Bristol rugby tour. The tour started at Kingsholm on Friday evening, where the boys watched an incredible game between Gloucester and Bristol. The boys were up early and headed over to Bristol Grammar school to play a tournament with the hosts and Pates Grammar, from Cheltenham.
The boys were first in action against the boys from Cheltenham. Their athletic ball carriers were hard to contain in the opening exchanges and Dulwich College were quickly down 10-0 but the squad regrouped and put in a more encouraging performance for the remainder of the game, winning 35-10. The boys were then in action against Bristol Grammar. This proved to be their best performance of the weekend. Pressure in defence, good tackling and a desire to move the ball to the edges lead to a convincing 40-0 win.
After a short stop in Clifton village, the squad headed over to Clifton RFC to watch their National League 1 fixture against the Rams. The boys enjoyed being close to the action and the winning score from the Rams was one to savour.
The timings of the Sunday fixture meant the boys had a bit of a lie in and enjoyed the fry up on offer at the hotel. The squad made the short journey over to North Bristol RFC for their final fixture of the tour. The squad carried on where they left off the day before and ran out comfortable winners 55-5, scoring some excellent team tries in atrocious conditions.
The whole squad were excellent across the weekend and represented the College superbly. Massive thanks to Mr Roberts and Mr Whitehead for leading and supporting the tour.
