Sustainability Action Group Meeting

Sustainability Action Group Meeting

Geog Soc gathered together recently, with the focus being centred round sustainability. The aim of these half termly meetings is to engage pupils with sustainable living habits, and to bridge the link between operational sustainability and pupil-led action. The session started with an introduction to the sustainability team by Mr. George (Sustainability Data Analyst) and Mrs. Millis (Head of Sustainability), highlighting the importance of sustainability in the current world, and the actions Dulwich College has taken to reduce its environmental impact.

This was followed by an activity focused on the carbon footprint of a variety of different foods (e.g. beef, chicken, dairy, etc.). Pupils were engaged throughout this exercise and it opened discussions about the impact ‘small swaps’ can have on our everyday lives. The theme for this year’s Eco Week is ‘small swaps’, led by Ms. Pope (Geography Teacher and Academic Lead on Sustainability), who guided a discussion on innovative ways humans have adapted to change, and how this connects to the environmental challenges we face today.’
