During October half term, 24 pupils from Years 12 and 13 travelled to Dubai for an engineering enrichment trip and had the opportunity to explore both the country’s cutting-edge technology and rich cultural heritage.
The group began with a full-day tour of New Dubai, visiting the Burj Khalifa, the Dubai Water Canal, and The View at The Palm, an observation deck 240 metres above the city. Pupils experienced the city’s innovative driverless metro system and marvelled at the architecture of the Al Farooq Omar Bin Al Khattab Mosque. The spectacular Dubai Fountain Show at Souq Al Bahar was particularly memorable.
Pupils later explored Old Dubai, immersing themselves in the city’s origins through visits to the Bastakiya Quarter, Al Fahidi Fort, and the bustling spice and textile souks. Highlights included an abra ride across the historic creek and panoramic views from the Dubai Frame.
The trip concluded with an unforgettable evening desert safari. Dune bashing in 4x4 vehicles, camel rides, falcon photography, and a vibrant desert camp showcasing traditional Sayyidi, belly, and fire dancing beneath the stars. A visit to the Museum of the Future and AYA Universe offered a fitting finale to a week blending innovation, design, and cultural discovery.
