Chapel Evensong

Chapel Evensong

The first Evensong of the academic year on Sunday 28 September saw the Chapel Choir tackling some demanding repertoire with real skill and accomplishment. The Magdalen Service by Kenneth Leighton is a vibrant but challenging contemporary setting of the Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis, as is the set of responses he wrote which the choir also sang. Tallis’s O Nata Lux de Lumine provided a more serene contrast to the rhythmic, gritty and harmonically acerbic setting of the Canticles.  The choir also invested two new Head Choristers, Atlas and Ferdy, and congratulations to Anton on his promotion from probationer to full chorister.
