On Tuesday lunchtime Politics Society hosted a Zoom talk from Zara Mohammed, the first woman and the first Scot to lead the Muslim Council of Britain.
Addressing a packed Masters’ Library, Ms Mohammed talked about the challenges and opportunities of the role: from lobbying Members of Parliament to monitoring Islamophobia in the media; from responding to a pandemic which has disproportionately affected the Muslim community to increasing diversity and inclusion in British politics.
The youngest ever Secretary General, she also spoke about engaging young people in politics while keeping an older generation onside.
A wide range of interesting questions was testament to her success in engaging Dulwich students. We were very grateful for her visit.
