EAL students enjoy trip to Crystal Palace Museum

On Sunday afternoon three EAL Boarders joined the inaugural ‘Get to know your local area’ EAL walking trip and braved the biting wind to walk up the hill to the Crystal Palace Museum. They enjoyed learning about the fascinating history of the Crystal Palace which was moved from Hyde Park to Sydenham Hill in 1854 and was destroyed by fire in 1936. The students were amazed by the story of the Palace and the Great Exhibition and were especially struck by the expansive views over south London from the terraces where the Crystal Palace once stood. It was a great way to spend an autumnal afternoon.
