Eva Perón

On Thursday 11 February, Will Lord delivered a fascinating talk on the life and impact of Eva Perón – the latest instalment of what has been a busy half term for MFL Society. Will gave a wonderfully insightful biographical summary of Perón’s multifaceted and influential political and personal life – covering her humble origins in early 20th Century Argentina, work as an actress in Buenos Aires and her role as First Lady of Argentina from 1946-52. Attendees were certainly impressed as to the central, although somewhat controversial, role played by Perón in the shaping of modern Argentina, and Will shed some light on the cultural experiences of those attendees lucky enough to have visited Argentina in the past. MFL Society will pick up right where it left off on Thursday 25 February.
