The Economics Society was treated to a special visit from CEO of Ocean Wall Ltd, Nick Lawson OA, who joined last week’s meeting to deliver an exceptionally interesting and engaging talk to the 80 attendees on the economic landscape post-COVID. There will inevitably be winners and losers and Nick gave a fascinating insight into how business and social interaction may change in the coming years. In particular, his prediction that large firms may move further towards, or feel pressure to move towards, stakeholder capitalism, where corporations serve the interests of all their stakeholders, including their employees and the local communities. There was time for a Q&A at the end and students asked pertinent questions that provoked inspiring discussion. I would like to thank Nick very much for kindly donating his valuable to time share his expertise and also all who attended for making this such a successful event. Economics Society returns next week.
