Dulwich pianist wins 2nd Prize at inaugural Coach House Piano Competition

Many congratulations to Devin Liu who was awarded 2nd prize at the first Coach House Piano Competition on Sunday 12 May. The competition’s first round involved a field of 35 schools and Devin was selected as one of the six finalists to perform a 30-minute recital in the final round at Queen Anne’s School Caversham. Devin also took part in a masterclass with Professor John Thwaites, Head of Keyboard at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire before performing an exciting programme that included Bach’s Prelude and Fugue in C sharp minor from Book 1 of the Well-Tempered Clavier, Chopin’s Impromptu No 2, Ravel’s Jeux d’eau and Liszt’s Tarantelle from Venezia e Napoli. Devin was the youngest performer in the final round and he received glowing comments from the audience and adjudicators.

In preparation for this competition, Devin gave a spectacular lunchtime recital on Friday 10 May in the Lower Hall. Many congratulations for his very accomplished performances.
