Music Technology and Production

Music Technology plays an important role in preparing students for life as musicians in the 21st century. In the classroom, all students learn to use professional music production software such as Logic Pro, through a focused programme of pop song writing, film music composition, and remixing. As a co-curricular activity, there are two Music Technology clubs per week where students can explore production techniques in greater depth and enjoy electronic music-making with friends. Music Technology is also a popular skills option for boys working towards their Duke of Edinburgh Award.

There are excellent facilities to support Music Technology learning. Two modern iMac suites serve as the primary spaces for classroom teaching whilst a range of other spaces, from acoustically treated studios to larger halls, are well suited to recordings of everything from traditional instrumental and choral recordings to modern popular and commercial recordings.

Upper School students gain valuable hands-on experience through involvement in live sound and studio engineering projects. Many of our recent A level Music students have received offers to study on prestigious university programs, including Music and Sound Recording (Tonmeister) at Surrey, Electronic and Produced Music at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Music and Sound Recording at York and Acoustics and Music Technology at Edinburgh University.
