Live Theatre Trips & Workshops

"The process, despite its challenges, has been thoroughly enjoyable and exciting. Thanks to this amazing project, not only have I been able to produce a full script, but all the participants have been granted the chance to express the views of a new generation” Shehzore Adil (Year 10)

The live theatre programme is supplemented by a series of workshops and seminars with industry professionals who share their knowledge of their craft and contemporary theatre practice, including, most recently, Timberlake Wertenbaker, Lesley Sharp, Jessica Swale, Matthew Spencer and Hara Yannas from Headlong, Mikey Brett (puppeteer and animator on War Horse, Gravity and The Muppets) and Zak Nemorin (choreographer and movement specialist).

Dulwich College enjoys close ties with the Rose Theatre Trust and Upper School pupils are afforded the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of our founder, 400 years later, by taking part in workshops on the newly excavated footings of the Elizabethan playhouse.

Year 10 boys are invoved with the National Theatre New Views writing project, giving them the opportunity to work with professional playwrights to develop their own writing.

Senior pupils are currently involved with R&D on a newly commissioned play from Jenny Worton, artistic associate of the Almeida Theatre, about Ernest Shackleton to mark the 100th anniversary of his ill-fated voyage to the Antarctic.

The London theatre scene right on our doorstep affords boys the opportunity to see some of the best productions in the world. In the past 12 months, theatre trips have included:

Fuerzabruta Electra
1984 The James Plays
