"School made me an actor... I will always remeber the first time I got on stage in the Edward Alleyn Theatre." Rupert Penry-Jones (OA 82-89) | Ian Charleson award winner remembering his time at Dulwich in The Independent

Rising to the challenge of intensive and rigorous rehearsal and performance schedules can be gruelling, but ultimately incredibly rewarding and unforgettable for boys involved.

We are able to transform the multi-functional and versatile Edward Alleyn Theatre to enable boys to explore varied approaches to the actor-audience relationship. Boys have the opportunity not only to act, but also to direct, design, build, and work technically within the creative team on sound, lighting and stage management.

“Getting the opportunity to be hands-on with the technical facilities in the EAT inspired me to forge a career in the industry. Learning to rig, focus, put a prompt copy together, be part of the crew, call a show, paint the floor (and myself in the process) were invaluable and unforgettable experiences” Jack Fox-Downes OA (07 - 14)| currently studying stage management at Guildhall.
