Duke of Edinburgh

The Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme (DofE) has become increasingly popular, both at Dulwich and world-wide, providing an enjoyable, challenging and rewarding programme of personal development. The DofE is structured into three levels of Award which increase in challenge and duration: Bronze, Silver, and Gold. The main differences between the Award levels are the minimum length of time it takes to complete the programme, how challenging it is, and the minimum age you can start. At Dulwich, we start Bronze in Year 9, Silver in Year 10 and Gold in Year 12.

There are four main sections of a DofE programme: Volunteering, Physical, Skills, and Expedition. At Gold, participants will also complete a Residential section.

Unlike many of the challenges the students face, this is very much is a personal undertaking with each participant constructing their own programme to reflect their interests and abilities, giving them the opportunity to challenge themselves as well as try something new,
