The Alleyn Club Celebrating 400 Years

As many of you will already know, 2019 is the Quatercentenary of Edward Alleyn’s Foundation of his ‘College of Gods Gift’ at Dulwich. Details of the key events organised for you by the Alleyn Club with the College are emerging. Full details will be made available soon but the objective in this historic year is to renew OA ties to the College with a varied programme of events held across the year so that as many of you from across the generations and with many varied shared interests will want to be involved and have the chance to do so.

The centrepiece will be Festival week from June 24 to June 29, 2019 and in particular OA Day on Thursday evening June 27. The campus will be closed especially for OA’s from 4pm onwards, and it is intended that you and your partners will be involved with College seminars and workshops held for pupils, led by OA experts and stars in their field, meeting with staff and ex-staff during tours of the campus and ending the evening alongside your peers in a party celebration. If you have not been to the College for a while, this is very much the best chance to be back.

Aside from OA Day there will also be many other opportunities to be involved with 2019. Alleyn Club Committee efforts are focusing on as many as thirty different projects and events occurring during the Quatercentenary. From these, two other events are worthy of mention for the Calendar at this stage. The year will open on January 31, 2019 with a Sports Dinner celebrating 50 years of Dulwich Sport at the RAC Club. On May 11, 2019 an Edward Alleyn ‘Founder’s Ball’ will be held at the College. Alongside the current parents for this major celebration this promises to be an exciting and memorable evening for you all. Given the busy calendar of events the Quatercentenary will wrap up as in recent years with the Alleyn Club Dinner and AGM on Friday November 1, 2019.

A wonderful year is in prospect as we celebrate the Quatercentenary of Edward Alleyn’s Foundation of his ‘College of Gods Gift’, and we look forward to being in contact with you and seeing you back at Dulwich.
