The Alleyn Club Celebrating 400 Years
As many of you will already know, 2019 is the Quatercentenary of Edward Alleyn’s Foundation of his ‘College of Gods Gift’ at Dulwich. Details of the key events organised for you by the Alleyn Club with the College are emerging and will be made available soon. The objective in this historic year is to renew OA ties both with each other and the College. There will be a varied programme of events held across the year so that as many of you from across the generations and with a range of shared interests will have the chance to get involved.
The centrepiece will be Festival week from 24-29 June 2019 and in particular OA Day on Thursday evening June 27. From 4pm the campus will be open for OA’s and their partners, and you will have the chance to be involved in seminars and workshops for pupils led by OA experts and stars in their field, as well as have the chance to meet staff and former staff during tours of the campus. The day will conclude with an evening reunion event, and the chance to celebrate the anniversary with your peers. If you have not been to the College for a while, this is very much the best chance to be back.
Throughout 2019 there will be wide range of other opportunities to get involved. The Alleyn Club is developing as many as thirty different projects and events during the Quatercentenary, but we would like to highlight just two at this early stage. The year will open on 31 January 2019 with a Sports Dinner celebrating 50 years of Dulwich Sport at the RAC Club. On 11 May a Quatercentenary Gala Ball will be held – hosted by the College and supported by both the Alleyn Club and the Friends of Dulwich College. This major celebration promises to be an exciting and memorable evening for you all. The year will conclude with the Alleyn Club Dinner and AGM on Friday 1 November 2019.
A wonderful year is in prospect as we celebrate the Quatercentenary of Edward Alleyn’s Foundation of his ‘College of Gods Gift’, and we look forward to being in contact with you and seeing you back at Dulwich.
