OAA Alumni Awards 2026 - Announcing the winners

We are delighted to announce this year's winners of the Old Alleynian Alumni Awards. Your nominations embraced a diverse range of contributions and professions including lawyers, medics, academics, campaigners and journalists many of whom are leaders in their particular fields.

The judges were faced with a very difficult choice indeed, but the final awards were, it was unanimously agreed, given to truly worthy recipients. The winners will receive their OAA medals at a special College assembly at the beginning of October.

The Young Alumni Achievement Award (Under 40) 

Sean Richardson (02-07)

In 2016, Sean Richardson co-founded The Uganda School Project (TUSP) with friend and fellow OA, Harry Bucknell, in the belief that access to a good quality education should be a right for all and not determined by your starting position in life. TUSP support remote schools in a mountainous region of rural Eastern Uganda, where access to education is severely limited. Through a range of carefully thought through initiatives and programmes, they ensure children complete primary school, gain key foundational skills and provide a platform for every child to shape their own futures.

In 2024 TUSP was nominated as the College’s and OAA’s Charity of the Year;  Sean was tireless in his efforts to ensure that the engagement between the charity, College students and OAs was deeply meaningful. That in 2026 Sean is still a regular visitor as an ambassador of TUSP says much about the extremely strong relationship he has forged with the College community.

Lifetime Achievement Award (Over 40)

Sir Peter Bazalgette (62-71)

Sir Peter Bazalgette is an Arts & Media advocate. Described by The Independent as “the most influential person in TV” and by the Daily Mail as one of ‘Ten Worst Britons’, for bringing Big Brother to the UK. He was Chair of ITV and before that chaired Arts Council England. After Dulwich College he took a sporting Third in Law at Cambridge where he was President of the Union. He then spent most of his career working in TV, devising some hit shows, such as Ready Steady Cook & Changing Rooms. His books include Billion Dollar Game and The Empathy Instinct. More recently he’s led the Creative Industries Council. Now he chairs the Royal College of Art, is Chancellor of the University of the West of England, Bristol and sits as on the board of the Department of Education.
