The Alleynian Sailing Society, celebrating its 35th year, took to the waters of the Solent in July to provide teaching and mentorship to 18 Dulwich boys. Starting on the river Hamble, the fleet of 4 Oceanis 37 yachts and a Malo 37 Ruby (owned by Nigel Barnwell OA) visited Cowes twice, Yarmouth, Gosport, Buckler’s Hard (Beaulieu River). Blessed with some great weather, the boys had a chance to improve their sailing skills and practice navigating this famous stretch of water. A close run past the Needles, one of the most recognisable landmarks on the UK coast, was a highlight for all. Many congratulations to Tomasso Quaglia who, on the final evening at the Island Sailing Club, Cowes, was awarded the Tony Pendry Cup for the most talented sailor of the week.
