Humanities and Languages Networking

Humanities and Languages Networking

On the evening of Monday 11 November, The Old Library hosted our first Humanities and Languages Networking evening. Students from Year 11 and the Upper School had the opportunity to meet with 20 guests, many of them OAs, who had studied one of these subjects as an undergraduate, or for a Master’s degree. As these degrees don't generally provide a clear vocational pathway, it gave students an insight into what it is like to study a subject at university. It also highlighted the wide range of jobs that such a degree can offer, whether related to the subject studied, or a completely new pathway. Guests came from a variety of sectors, including financial services, legal, journalism, the police and even one who had started their own company. The students were praised by many guests for their focus and the intelligence of their questions and we hope the evening highlighted to them how useful languages and humanities subjects can be, whatever their future career aspirations. We would like to thank all the guests and students who attended this event and made it such a success.
