October 14 saw the fifteenth and final lecture evening in the GE Moore series. The series ended where it had begun in November 2014 with the Moore family itself, this time looking at Thomas Sturge Moore; poet, artist and friend of WB Yeats. Professor Roy Foster and Dr Jan Piggott explored this world with two illustrated and fascinating talks, with the audience having the opportunity to visit an exhibition devoted to Moore’s work as well as seven new wood-engravings commissioned to mark the College’s 400th anniversary. The lecture series has been an intellectually stimulating one, each evening looking at a different aspect of the College’s story, always managing to look out and forward as much as inwards and back. Audiences have been made up of pupils from the College, the foundation schools, the Charter School, parents, OAs and local residents, and this mixture has been one of the most rewarding elements of the series. Topics have been very varied including philosophy, photography, code-breaking and cricket.
