Digital Inclusion: our chance to make a difference

Digital Inclusion: our chance to make a difference

Pupils, their parents and members of staff at the College are being asked to help tackle digital poverty for local partner organisations in need of support through donations of any unwanted devices at home or at work.

The pilot scheme, launching this week will aim to support City Heights E-ACT Academy who along with Dulwich College and other local schools, form part of the Southwark Schools’ Learning Partnership. Also included in the scheme is the Kingswood Community Shop, which many of the pupils have supported as part of their Community Action projects.

Morgan Haines, Principal of City Heights, has written to explain what this support would mean to his pupils: City Heights’ deprivation indicator is in the upper quintile (most deprived) for all schools, with over 65% students entitled to free school meals, as well as 47% who have English as an additional language. Many of our students are desperate to study from home but do not have the technology which would enable them to do so. Your support would be hugely appreciated and make a real difference to the lives of many families.

Jo Hunt, the Community Shop Manager writes ‘’your help in this regard will make a huge, practical difference to many children for whom the social gap is widening as a result of their lack of ability to access online learning’’.

If you are able to help support this scheme, please contact the Rev Tim Buckler bucklert@dulwich.org.uk
