On Tuesday 30 January, over 100 pianists took part in the 22nd Annual Piano Competition, which took place in the Old Library. The College's beautiful Steinway Model B was put to the test as the boys gave their best in producing some musically crafted performances. We had the privilege to welcome Mr Daniel Browell, Associate Head of Keyboard at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, who was not only impressed by the overall standard but gave excellent and professional advice to all pianists involved.
Many congratulations to the winners Sasha Benn (Class 1), Nathaniel Lusher (Class 2), Andy He (Class 3), Danny Piers (Class 4), Finlay Johnston (Class 5) and Devin Liu (Class 6). Mr Browell also awarded the Graeme Jenkins Cup (the top prize given to the most accomplished and compelling performance of the day) to Finlay Johnston who played Chopin's Waltz in A minor with great maturity and produced some truly spectacular and moving colours. You can find the full list of winners in the document attached. Many congratulations to all the boys for a fantastic day of piano playing.
Mr L A Parés, Head of Keyboard.
