Clubs and Ensembles

With over 70 clubs, activities and ensembles taking place each week, both at lunchtimes and after school, there is something on offer for every boy.

Most clubs are teacher-led, free of charge, and run at lunchtimes or after school, alongside Home Learning Club until 5 pm and After School Care until 6 pm. Boys typically take part in 4–5 clubs each week.

The programme reflects teachers’ passions and interests, but boys are also encouraged to suggest new clubs. Clubs help develop hobbies, skills, and creativity, while providing a friendly space to meet peers across different classes and year groups.

Incorporated into our clubs programme are a wide range of musical ensembles for enthusiastic and talented young musicians. Our clubs programme includes a wide range of musical ensembles for enthusiastic and talented young musicians.

These range from classical groups such as the Purcell Strings and Bream Guitar Ensemble to newer initiatives like the Junior School Rock Band. We are also fortunate to have a Junior School Orchestra, which continues to grow in numbers. Ensembles provide children with a wonderful opportunity to play alongside peers, share their skills, and gain valuable experience performing in front of an audience. 

The clubs’ programme is a real strength of the Junior School and the array of opportunities available means that students have the chance ‘to be and do everything’.
