Science

We take an investigative approach to Science, encouraging pupils to observe and ask fundamental questions, such as ‘how…?’ ‘why…?’ and ‘what will happen if…?’

Pupils are asked to suggest ideas and make predictions which can be tested. In this way, they develop core scientific skills leading to an understanding both of the nature of scientific enquiry and the disciplines of scientific method.

From Year 3, pupils learn how to plan and carry out their own investigations from which they can interpret information and draw conclusions, and to record their findings in a variety of ways. This practical approach achieves a stimulating and intriguing curriculum in which pupils participate directly in the processes of scientific discovery.

Pupils have the use of our well-equipped Junior School science laboratory with access to the resources of specialist departments.
