Chaplaincy

Our full-time Anglican Chaplain has a role in promoting the spiritual wellbeing and consciousness of all our pupils and is responsible for the co-ordination of all faith based activities within College.

Faith Group meetings

We have numerous different faith groups meeting each week and continue to invest in interfaith dialogue opportunities. We are delighted to have visiting representatives from Judaism, Roman Catholicism, and Islam who form part of our broader Chaplaincy team and are keen to expand this provision to meet demand.

Christ’s Chapel

Each Senior School pupil will attend Christ’s Chapel in Dulwich Village for start and end of term Master’s Chapel, as well as for a termly Chapel assembly. These are broadly ecumenical and offer the opportunity for reflection, contemplation, and a chance to consider the richness of our individual and collective meaning and purpose. The Chapel Choir sing during these services as well as during our regular and voluntary services of Evensong and Matins. A number of these services are shared with JAGS.

Serving the Community

The Chaplain, and Assistant Chaplain offer their time to serve our community in many ways and can be seen around the College campus every day.

The Chaplaincy supports various Christian prayer groups for pupils, staff, and parents, and runs an annual Confirmation class.

The Chaplain

Reverend Tim Buckler is available to offer guidance and advice on any issues affecting pupils and staff. The Chaplain’s office is located on the ground floor of the Science Lab.

Founder's Prayer

Our Founder Edward Alleyn is buried in Christ's Chapel of God's Gift. The Founder's Prayer is regularly read at services and assemblies. It is printed in the front of our College hymn books along with the School Song.

We give thee humble and hearty thanks,
O most merciful Father,
For the memory in this place of Edward Alleyn,
Our founder and benefactor,
By whose benefit this whole college of God's gift
Is brought up to godliness and good learning;
And we beseech thee to give us grace to use these thy blessings
To the glory of thy holy name,
That we may here fulfil the good intent of our founder,
And become faithful servants to thee, and to our country, and to our world,
And at last be made partakers
In thy heavenly promise of the life everlasting;
Through Jesus Christ our Lord
Amen
