The final day of each half term is always a day the children look forward to as we celebrate House Day and dress up in our House colours. October House Day had the added bonus of the exciting charity assault course challenge. The assault course had obstacles to jump over, a net to scramble through and tunnels to negotiate. The children were exhausted trying to complete as many laps as they could in their 30 minute session and were all ready for their ‘Fishy Friday’ lunch. We also welcomed Alex Wilson, our visiting artist, who worked with each of the four houses on a collaborative installation. Using their house colours as a basis, the children created patterns and shapes of colours on filter paper and then using water, watched the colours disperse, bleed and mix together. This inspiration was taken from the Year 1 visit to Kew Gardens where they saw Dale Chihuly’s glass sculptures. Everyone agreed it was a fun-filled way to end the term.
