On Friday 22 March DUCKS Year 2 Football Club had their final fixture of the term with the eagerly awaited match against Year 3 former DUCKS pupils.
Each squad had around 16 players divided into two smaller teams playing simultaneous matches, and just like that, DUCKS City and DUCKS United were back! This also offered an opportunity to split the Year 3 forces and perhaps find a much sought after weakness in their line-up. But alas, as the 15-minute matches counted down, the Year 3 players proved to be too strong, and too organised. Despite being outscored, the Year 2 team never gave up. Throughout the matches amazing saves were made and there were even a few shots on target, one even cannoning off both posts of the Year 3 goal.
Both Year 2 and Year 3 players were genuinely happy for the chance to get together again in the name of sport, and add another memory to their DUCKS experience.
A huge thank you to Miss Hannah and Mrs Whitcomb-Bick for marshalling the DUCKS players, and to Sophie Rollins and the Year 3 players for a devastating display of teamwork and good sportsmanship. The biggest thank you of all must go to Oliver Storey and William Fortune for their officiating. They allowed play to flow and like the sun, skill to shine.
