Year 1 pupils enjoyed a memorable day of discovery in King’s Cross, where they followed a dinosaur trail, explored the natural world at Camley Street Nature Reserve, and took in the vibrant surroundings of Coal Drops Yard.
The day began with a mysterious Dinosaur Trail, where children worked together to apply their map-reading skills and search for clues. With enthusiasm and determination, they followed dinosaur footprints, discovered hidden dens, and pieced together information to complete the trail. Along the way, they uncovered fascinating facts about the local area, learning about the historic significance of Coal Drops Yard, Granary Square, and Regent’s Canal.
At Camley Street Nature Reserve, pupils became budding biologists. Surrounded by trees, ponds, and wildflowers, they explored the rich biodiversity of this peaceful green space tucked within the city. Armed with spotter sheets and plenty of curiosity, they identified plants, insects, and birds, making meaningful links to their science learning on plants and habitats.
Throughout the day, Year 1 demonstrated curiosity, collaboration, and focus. The trip provided a valuable opportunity to bring their geography and science learning to life, deepening their understanding of both the natural and built environment around them.
