Reception’s Godstone Farm Adventure: A Day to Remember!

On Thursday 13 June Reception enjoyed an exciting and educational trip to Godstone Farm, igniting their curiosity and enthusiasm for nature and farm life.

The day began with a wave of excitement as the children discovered they would be traveling to the farm on a double-decker bus. The anticipation of the journey set the tone for a day filled with joy and discovery.

Upon arrival at Godstone Farm, the children were eager to meet a variety of animals. They fed goats and alpacas, and were fascinated by encounters with a 100-year-old tortoise called George, a bearded dragon, guinea pigs, pygmy goats, and many more. The farm provided a hands-on experience that allowed the children to connect with animals and learn how to look after them

A key highlight of the trip was the “Life on the Farm” session. The children enthusiastically raked the soil, searching for worms, and used a guide to identify different seeds and plants. They even tried their hand at pollination. This interactive session offered valuable insights into the workings of a farm and the importance of agriculture in daily life.

Following a well-deserved lunch break, the Reception class explored Godstone’s renowned adventure playground. The playground, equipped with obstacle courses, slides, rock walls, and wobbly bridges, provided the children with endless opportunities for physical activity and fun. The children demonstrated remarkable agility and balance, navigating the playground with confidence and enthusiasm.

The trip concluded with smiles all around as the children boarded the double-decker bus for the return journey. The day at Godstone Farm was not only educational but also immensely enjoyable, leaving the children with memories that will last a lifetime.

Overall, the trip to Godstone Farm was a resounding success, providing the children with a day of learning, adventure, and fun. The children returned home tired but happy, with a newfound appreciation for farm life and the natural world.
