Over the course of three mornings starting on Tuesday 12 March, the children in DUCKS' three Reception Classes - Lapwing, Puffin, and Swan - welcomed their parents into school to watch their Celebration of Learning Assemblies.
The children proudly presented beautiful artwork inspired by artist Mark Hearld’s famous works Spring, Sunflowers and Daisies and Mallard Watching. They showcased the skills they had developed using watercolour paints, oil pastels and sketching pencils, impressing their parents with their use of colour and attention to detail.
In the preceding weeks, the children had learnt about traditional tales like 'The Three Little Pigs' and 'Jack and the Beanstalk'. They confidently shared imaginative drawings and descriptions of their own magical beanstalk lands, before retelling the story of 'Jack and the Beanstalk' through a memorised poem.
After the assembly, the children were delighted to escort their parents back to their classrooms to look through their individual learning journey books, and celebrate their incredible achievements so far this academic year.
