Pedal to a Medal

Pedal to a Medal

On Tuesday 30 April, Year 2 were given the opportunity to hone their cycling skills at Herne Hill Velodrome, our local hub of cycling excellence. Every skill level from beginner to confident was tested as the children were expertly coached through several activities, that tested their speed, endurance, control and road awareness. Favourite activities of the day, led by our cycle coaches Tony, Thea, Tianne and Archie, were the Solar system game, which encouraged plotting a pathway through obstacles with careful riding. Also the 50-metre sprint to bikes and then fast cycling around the junior track for two finishing laps was one that the children enjoyed immensely. I'm sure it will set some of them up for future triathlon events.

Thank you to our coaches for their fun demeanour and variety of challenges that they presented to the children. To the Year 2 cycle enthusiasts that took to the tasks so well. Finally, a huge thank you to Alex and Amy Pedder for organising the event and presenting our children with mementos of the day which will ensure they will be seen wherever they cycle.
