Friday fun in the sun

On Friday 9 May our Year 1 children took their second coach trip of the week to JAGS to take part in the annual inter-schools fun athletics event, located on the sports field. Once we found a shady spot for our base camp under the magnificent trees, it was time to turn our minds to competing and the running order. The teaching staff expertly organised and managed their respective classes and DUCKS children were able to apply what they had practised, from the moment the starting gun first sounded. They worked well as three class teams performing in a total of four events. The race order of the day was: hoop; sprint; agility poles and finally racket and bean bag. All races run in relay style ensuring that individual effort added up to team glory. Beside them competing for the same glory were Year 1 children from JAGS Pre-Prep, Alleyn's and Bessemer Grange Primary School.

A big thank you to the JAGS Sports Department for hosting us and our spectators. Their organisation and hospitality have helped this event to remain slick and exciting. Thank you also to the Year 1 team, Learning Enrichment Team and Miss Hannah for marshalling the children so well and keeping them energised and enthused. Finally, a huge thank you to out fantastic Year 1 athletes who really put their best feet forward and represented DUCKS and themselves so well.
