DUCKS burst into colour and celebration as pupils enjoyed a vibrant Lent Term House Day, bringing together our Pride Month focus, the uplifting theme Up, Up and Away, and our DUCKS Value of being Unique.
The entire school embraced a day dedicated to individuality, global awareness, and the joy of belonging to a diverse community.
At DUCKS, we strongly believe in celebrating every child’s culture and the diversity within our school community. By doing so, we open children’s eyes to the world around them, nurture critical thinking and empathy, and build a culture rooted in respect. This commitment shapes not only special events like House Day but the everyday experiences that help our pupils grow into confident, compassionate global citizens.
From the moment the day began, children were whisked around the world through stories, hands‑on activities, and thoughtful discussions that highlighted what makes each person special. Children arrived to a giant world map and were asked to work with their grown up to pinpoint their heritage. This was followed by meaningful conversations about identity and uniqueness, an energetic international dance workshop, and a series of STEM challenges inspired by iconic landmarks across the globe.
Creativity flourished as each house explored the message “We all fit together,” reinforcing the importance of inclusivity and connection. A standout moment for many was the lively sports from around the world session, followed by an exhilarating race around the world in Forest School, where pupils hunted for hidden landmarks among the trees.
The day culminated in a joyful whole‑school assembly, with each House proudly performing their international dance to cheers and applause. It was a heart-warming celebration of community, creativity, and global curiosity.
As we look ahead to our next House Day, the spirit of uniqueness and togetherness continues to lift us Up, Up and Away.
