DUCKS Sports Day 2025

On Tuesday 24 June the whole of DUCKS woke up with one thing on their mind....It's Sports Day! In the previous weeks our young athletes had been practising for their events in an empty field, so they were rightfully surprised by the colour, sounds and energy that awaited them as they walked onto Eller Bank. 

The day started with the KS1 morning where our Year 1 and 2 classes took part in events that tested skills like: throwing, sprinting, hurdling, balancing and even dressing-up! These challenges promoted house affinity and celebrated not only those who crossed the tape first, but also those who showed perseverance, sporting attitude and determination. The morning was finished off with the Year 2 sprint relay won by Chestnut, followed by Elm, Oak and Willow respectively. Year 1 then took their turn in the relay race and once again Chestnut were victorious, followed respectively by Willow, Elm and Oak.

The Early Years afternoon was even more colourful, with a wonderfully laid out field. This time our budding stars were testing their balancing, running, throwing, dressing-up and shopping skills!

A huge thank you to Adam, our DUCKS Prefect and the Year 12 volunteers, who helped marshal the events and clearing the field. To the wonderful DUCKS staff who ensured the children had such a fun-packed session. To the ground staff thank you for the immaculate looking field. Our DUCKS community of parents and carers thank you for your presence and loud voices that helped motivate your children to do so well. Finally, a huge thank you to Miss Hannah for her organisational skills and to Mrs Whitcomb Bick for meeting me on the field, very early on Tuesday morning, to prepare for the splendid event.
