DUCKS Kindergarten children visit Battersea Park Children’s Zoo

DUCKS Kindergarten children visit Battersea Park Children’s Zoo

On Friday 7 June, the Duckling Room children took part in a fun filled educational visit, alongside their parents, to Battersea Park Children’s Zoo.

The children enjoyed a full day of adventure, beginning for some by travelling to the zoo by minibus. Upon arrival, we were greeted by members of the Battersea Park Children’s Zoo team who shared key information about the day ahead. The children were then invited to explore the zoo at their leisure. With opportunities to view animals, hear keeper talks, watch feeding demonstrations and explore the playground area, the children were spoilt for choice over which area of the zoo to visit first. With the help of their zoo map, the children were able to successfully navigate their way around the zoo to ensure they did not miss a thing.

We were fortunate with the weather as the sun kept shining and were not perturbed by the clouds that loomed above. In true British fashion, at midday all children and their parents were warmly welcomed back to a base camp diligently prepared by members of the Duckling Room team. Here, a fabulous picnic was enjoyed by all despite the greedy goats from the neighboring field making their presence known, clearly intrigued and tempted by the variety of delicious food available.

Following a group lunch, the children continued in their exploration of the zoo. With some able to participate in feeding the pigs whilst others thoroughly immersed themselves in having an opportunity to play amongst their peers in a new setting.

The Duckling Room team are grateful to all involved in helping to make this educational visit a huge success. Without the support of the Duckling Room parents, the visit would not have been possible.
