Celebrating green schools, City Kids magazine has awarded DUCKS Kindergarten and Infant School the prestigious Gold Award in the category of Best Early Years setting.
Victoria Evans, Founder & Editor-In-Chief of City Kids, praised DUCKS for its innovative approach “DUCKS truly shines in its commitment to outdoor learning. The staff provide invaluable hands-on experiences, fostering not just academic growth but also crucial life skills and a deep connection to nature in their pupils.”
The judging panel noted that DUCKS proves you don’t need acres of countryside to bring outdoor education to life. Its thriving on-site Forest School teaches children practical skills such as fire lighting and wood cutting, while nurturing a healthy respect for nature.
City Kids were equally impressed by the pupil-led Sustainability Leaders group, where children tackle real environmental issues – from conducting food waste audits to leading recycling campaigns. Judges commended the balance between hands-on exploration and environmental awareness, applauding DUCKS’ commitment to raising “confident eco-citizens, one log jump at a time.”
On receiving the award, Jo Parker, Head of DUCKS said "We are incredibly proud to receive this award, which recognises not only our stunning natural setting but also our deep commitment to outdoor learning and sustainability. It is especially rewarding to see our Sustainability leaders celebrated, their passion is truly inspiring. The DUCKS environment is unique and offers endless opportunities for meaningful learning. We warmly invite you to visit and experience it for yourself.”
