This week, the children in DUCKS marked a Stunning Start to our new Creative Curriculum theme, Long, Long Ago. The school was transformed as children and teachers alike stepped back in time, dressed as figures from the past. We had everyone from mighty Greek gods and goddesses to prehistoric Neanderthals and dinosaurs!
The day kicked off with an exciting parade in the school hall, where the children proudly showed off their costumes and shared fun facts about their characters. The adventure continued with a dynamic Drama workshop led by Perform, bringing the past to life through interactive storytelling and role-playing.
To dive deeper into the theme, our Year 1 students became explorers, crafting their own maps and binoculars, ready to discover worlds from the past. Meanwhile, Year 2 students collaborated to construct an impressive Mount Olympus, building their own piece of Greek mythology.
The Stunning Start event is a vital component of our Creative Curriculum, acting as an exciting ‘hook’ to spark a child’s love of learning and their natural curiosity. The multisensory experience makes the learning journey memorable for all of the children and provides a strong foundation for the exploration that will take place throughout the term. From engaging science experiments to using VR lenses to transport themselves to the past, this term is set to be a fantastic and exciting journey back in time for everyone. We can't wait to see what they discover!
