This week, Year 1 had an unforgettable adventure to the SEALIFE Aquarium in London.
With eyes wide in wonder, the children explored the vibrant depths of the Pacific Ocean tunnels, journeyed through the Amazon rainforest, marvelled at the vivid tropical coral reefs, and braved the icy realms of Antarctica. After a picnic in Jubilee Gardens, the excitement soared as Year 1 ascended 135 meters above the River Thames on the iconic London Eye. This exciting ride offered a bird's-eye view of the city's geography, allowing the children to pinpoint landmarks of historical and modern significance and categorise London's main physical and human features into the compass points of North, South, East, and West. As part of our "Rings of Friendship" Creative Curriculum topic, Year 1 students shared an unforgettable experience on the biggest ring in London, creating lasting memories with friends while deepening their understanding of the world around them.
After a fun filled trip the Year 1 learners wrote their own recount of the trip, using adventurous adjectives and conjunctions in their sentences. We also listened to the story of ‘The Queen’s Hat’ and drew our very own story map to show what happened throughout the story
