On the afternoon of Friday 24 January, Dr Joe Spence, the Master, Simon Yiend, COO, and College colleagues welcomed Nicky Meredith, outgoing Chair of Dulwich Estate Trustees, Roger Westbrook OA, Chair of the Dulwich Estate’s 400th Anniversary Committee, and Irene Bishop, Trustee of the Dulwich Estate and Governor of Dulwich College, for a special Tree Planting Ceremony.
The Foxglove tree (Paulownia tomentosa) was generously gifted by the Dulwich Estate to Dulwich College to commemorate our 400th anniversary. Planted in front of the Old Library, the tree will be a lasting symbol of the flourishing relationship between our two organisations who have supported many children over hundreds of years.
The Estate has gifted a Foxglove tree to each of its seven beneficiaries: the three Foundation Schools; Central Foundation Schools of London; St Saviour’s and St Olave’s Schools Foundation; Christ’s Chapel; and Dulwich Almshouse Charity.
