It was perfect weather for the final day of Dulwich Olympiad 2019. In the morning DCI Olympians enjoyed a Thames boat cruise and took in some of the London sights. It was back to the College for the afternoon where students mingled in the warm spring sunshine, sharing stories about the week’s events as everyone prepared for a whole group photograph of the pupils and staff involved in Dulwich Olympiad 2019.
The closing ceremony took place in the Great Hall. Students talked about their personal highlights of the week and Spirit of Dulwich awards were given to those who had shown resilience, friendship, integrity and respect. Dr Joe Spence, Master of Dulwich College, spoke about how the Olympiad week had represented both creativity and the spirit of internationalism. As well as competitive sport, there had been superb music and drama, and a contribution from all to Creative Week, and he hoped that the next Olympiad would also embrace service, sustainability and philanthropy.
Following the closing ceremony, students enjoyed a relaxed evening dinner with music and street food before heading back to the hotel and their journeys home across the globe.
And the next Dulwich Olympiad will be held in… Singapore. See you there in 2023.
