Founder's Day 2021

This year’s Founder’s Day on Saturday 3 July comprised a hybrid of small events on campus throughout the day (pre-booked tickets essential), live-streamed events, and pre-recorded films.

Films of two of Saturday’s live streamed events are available below.

Immediately following the live-streamed Service from the War Memorial at 11am, our (pre-booked) ticketed events ran throughout the day and included cricket matches and selected other sport, music and drama performances and an exhibition of pupils’ artwork. There was a separate programme of events for the Junior School and DUCKS.

Those with (pre-booked) tickets were invited to bring picnics to eat in the grounds whilst watching cricket. Deck chairs and directors’ chairs, water and a coffee van were available.

Whether on campus or viewing from home or elsewhere, we hope you had a marvellous Founder’s Day 2021, and thank you for joining us.

Commemoration Service

Enjoy the choirs of Dulwich College, James Allen's Girls’ School (JAGS) and Alleyn’s School as part of this year’s Foundation Schools’ Commemoration Service from Christ’s Chapel. The Order of Service can be found below and the retiring collection is in aid of SCEC.

SCEC

SCEC (Southwark Community Education Charity) is the registered charity supported by the three Foundation Schools, and in this film pupils talk about their volunteer mentoring work for the Saturday School. Should you wish to donate to SCEC, please find details at the beginning and end of the film.

Founder’s Day Service

We opened Founder’s Day 2021 with a live broadcast of our Founder’s Day Service from the War Memorial at 11am. During the two minutes silence we remembered not only the Fallen but all who have suffered over the course of this past year.

Master’s Welcome

The Master, Dr Joe Spence, welcomes everyone to Founder’s Day 2021.

Boundary

Take a walk with us to the edge. Boundary is a selection of artwork showcasing the talents of our Year 11,12 and 13 students. What they have collectively achieved during the last two years has its own distinct value. We appreciate their vision, their culture and what they value through their passion, imagination and talent, all of which we celebrate.

Fired Up

Fired Up is a collaboration between the Dulwich Archive and the Art Department. Together we take a brief look at the impact of clay, within the wider creative sphere. In this point-and-click generation, working with clay can become a valued antidote to the onslaught of technology and the ability to use our hands directly becomes ever more important.

Shine

Year 7’s imaginative dance videos in response to Judith Kerr’s testimony for Echo Eternal’s ‘Be the Light in the Darkness’ for Holocaust Memorial Day. Their creative work features gestures layered with recurring movement motifs to intriguing and moving effect. A montage video was amongst seven films to be streamed by U.Dance 2021 London Region earlier this year.

Leavers' Concert

I this live-streamed concert, our music leavers bade farewell to Dulwich College with a special programme of performances from the Great Hall. These talented instrumentalists and singers have played a significant role in the musical life of the College.

Leavers' Concert Duet

Matthew Ho & Bobby Han (Year 13) perform Chopin’s tour de force Sonata in G minor for Cello and Piano, Op 65: Allegro moderato in the first of our special pre-recorded Leavers’ Concert items.

Leavers' Concert Solo

Bobby Han performs Chopin’s Ballade No. 1 in G minor, Op 23, in the second of our special pre-recorded Leavers’ Concert items.
