400th Anniversary

Message from The Master

During 2019 we will commemorate and celebrate the 400th anniversary of Dulwich College and it is my honour and privilege to be Master at this time. Our community of Alleynians and Old Alleynians, for whom the programme of activities and events has been primarily designed, is vibrant and diverse, giving Dulwich its special character. Alongside our staff, OA and parent volunteers and the Alleyn Club Committee - without whom these events could not happen - we also look forward to welcoming parents, families, governors, Old Alleynians and pupils and staff from Dulwich College International schools, and many from the wider Dulwich community onto our campus, much of which has been rejuvenated, thanks to the generosity of our benefactors. There will be opportunities throughout 2019, and indeed before then, to support Dulwich College Bursaries through our Bursary Appeal Fund - more information will be shared with you soon.

Our anniversary programme sets out to:

  • give thanks to the Founder, Edward Alleyn, and celebrate his remarkable legacy;
  • inspire Alleynians in their love of and engagement in learning;
  • commit the College to an educational vision and social mission for the next 100 years.

  • We announce here the headlines of the 400th anniversary programme of activities and events during 2019. During the week of January 7 2019, the beginning of the Lent term, we will share more details, including events planned for our special Founder’s Week (21-29 June 2019). I look forward to celebrating with you.

    Dr Joe Spence
    Master, Dulwich College
