The Junior School Chess Squad secured first place in an inter-school chess tournament on Sunday 29 January. It was the regional eliminator for a national tournament, to be held in Camber Sands in the summer. The College U9 and U11 teams both qualified with total scores of 23.5 points out of a maximum of 25, the U9 team’s score was a record.
The competition was held at Eltham College and the schools participating were Rosemead Primary, Dulwich College, Bromley High and Amherst.
The two teams were awarded medals with certificates and they celebrated their victory with Chris Ward GM. Both the parents and the children were over the moon and are looking forward to their trip to Camber Sands in May.
